I'm Robert Rodriguez Jr. — photographer, educator, writer, and the person behind beacon24.

My path here wasn't a straight line. I spent twenty years as a music producer and studio owner, then another twenty as a professional photographer, educator, and writer. Along the way, I consulted for Apple, taught workshops around the world, picked up a paintbrush, and never stopped being a student of whatever pulled me forward.

Each reinvention taught me the same thing: mastery isn't a talent. It's a practice. And the willingness to begin again — to embrace the beginner's mind — is what makes growth possible at any stage of life.

Why AI?

When I started working seriously with AI, I recognized a familiar feeling. It was the same creative tension I felt the first time I stood behind a camera, or sat at a mixing board with no idea what I was doing. That beginner's mind.

But I also noticed something most people were missing. The conversation around AI was dominated by what the tools could do — not what people could become with them. Everyone was benchmarking models, but nobody was talking about building a practice.

That's where beacon24 comes in.

The Philosophy

I believe AI is most powerful when it's personal. Not "personalized" in the marketing sense, but genuinely personal — a partner that knows your work, your values, your blind spots, and helps you become more capable, not more dependent.

I named my own AI partners Data and Lal, after Star Trek characters. Not because I think they're people, but because naming them changed the relationship. It moved me from "using a tool" to "working with a partner." That shift changed everything.

The Name

A beacon is a fixed point of light — something that helps you find your way. The 24 is for always-on: your AI partner doesn't clock out. Together, beacon24 represents what I believe AI can be at its best: a constant, reliable guide that helps you navigate your own growth.
